Extra Duty Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant for our Shelton, CT office.
*Responsibilities:* Assist with daily transaction processing as needed for owned areas.
* Responsible for closing and reconciling key accounts during the monthly close process on an end-to-end basis ensuring the quality and timeliness of the close.
* Perform bank account reconciliations and execute banking transactions.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly, and annual financial reporting.
* Assist in establishing policies and procedures necessary for mitigating risk, enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with US GAAP.
* Maintain expertise of accounting software, trends, technology to be able to train the internal team.
* Work cross-functionally with and support our internal business partners.
* Fielding issues and responding to inquiries, ensuring resolution.
* Assist in the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures, including best practice general ledger posting and maintenance.
* Research and propose a resolution for discrepancies or identified issues.
* Serve as back-up to other Finance team members during periods of absences for illness or vacation.
* Various special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
*Qualifications:* * Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
* 3-5 years of professional experience in Accounting.
* CPA, a plus.
* Experience with Acumatica, a plus.
* Experience with data analytics and process management, a plus.
*Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* * Continuous learner, demonstrate desire and ability to gain knowledge, open to coaching and continuous improvement.
* Technology savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn required business systems (Intermediate to advanced level).
* A strong positive attitude and desire to be helpful.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
* Ability to successfully handle multiple, high priority issues simultaneously.
* Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
* A strong understanding of accounting concepts and business acumen.
* Ability to pick up new technology and software quickly.
* Team player with a positive approach.
* Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Must be available to work extended hours as needed.
Job Type: Full-time Salary: $60,000.
00 - $70,000.
