CIRI is looking for 5 childcare volunteers to assist with:
1) the weekly daytime Afghan women's health group (3 hours, Thursdays)
_and/or_
2) the monthly evening Afghan women's trauma group (3 hours, Mondays)
at a community space in New Haven, CT.
As a volunteer, you will be a critical part of CIRI's effort in empowering Afghan refugee families through delivery of health education programming for adults.

Responsibilities:
* Provide a safe, hygienic, and nurturing environment for 5-8 Afghan refugee children under your care
* Maintain a clean and organized childcare space
* Ensure proper maintenance of CIRI property (e.
g.
electronic equipment, toys)
* Entertain children with age-appropriate toys, art, videos, nursery rhymes, group activities, etc.
* Communicate effectively with CIRI staff and other volunteers about concerns and incidents in a timely manner
Requirements:
* Must be 18 or older
* Must have own vehicle or reliable access to means of transportation
* Previous experience working with young children ages 0-7, such as babysitting or classroom experience
* Knowledge of child development
* Cultural sensitivity and basic knowledge of Afghan culture
Preferred Qualifications:
* First Aid and/or CPR certification
* Valid driver's license and willingness to transport clients to and from their homes
* Previous experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations
* Previous experience working with special needs children
* Proficiency in Dari, Pashto, or Farsi a plus
