5 Work Week Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day) Work Location Central Campus Worksite Address 127 Wall Street New Haven, CT 06511 Work Model On-site Position Focus: Reporting to the Head of Reference, the Research and Document Delivery Librarian at the Lillian Goldman Law Library is responsible for providing significant research support in a dynamic and intellectually invigorating environment.
This position provides an unparalleled working experience amongst a diverse community of scholars and access to a world-class collection of print and digital materials.
The librarian in this position provides complex and sophisticated research support to students, faculty, and members of the Yale community; coordinates research requests for archival and special collections materials, works closely with the interlibrary loan department, and participates in library planning committees, working groups, and task forces.
Participates in the Law Library’s faculty liaison program and assists with the Law Library’s research assistant program.
Participates in legal research instruction.
This position will be assigned the rank of Librarian 1 to 2 based on a combination of professional experience and qualifications.

Essential Duties 1.
Manages research requests for archival and special collections materials located outside of the Yale Law Library on behalf of Yale Law faculty and students.
2.
Manages research projects in conjunction with outside parties including independent researchers, archives, and other special collections repositories.
3.
Provides sophisticated reference and/or research services to students, faculty, and members of the Yale community through virtual and in-person consultations.
4.
Organizes and curates materials and information for archives and knowledge management purposes.
5.
Participates with other librarians in first year legal research instruction, advanced legal research courses, and other instructional offerings.
6.
Participates in library planning committees, working groups, and task forces.
7.
Engages in campus, regional, and national professional organizations, and collaborative activities.
8.
Seeks opportunities for professional growth and involvement.
Expected to be professionally active and represent the Library and University in the academic, scholarly, and professional community.
9.
Monitors developments and best practices to help ensure the excellence of the Law Library’s research offerings.
10.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience J.
D.
from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent).
Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program for library and information science or foreign equivalent.
Required Skill/Ability 1: Demonstrated knowledge or experience performing archival or special collections research.
Required Skill/Ability 2: Demonstrated knowledge and experience interfacing with external organizations.
Required Skill/Ability 3: Demonstrated ability to function in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment that emphasizes customer service and delivery of exemplary research and instructional services.
Strong public services orientation.
Required Skill/Ability 4: Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively across units.
Demonstrated ability to think independently, consult appropriately, and solve problems.
Required Skill/Ability 5: Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to conclusion in a timely fashion.
Ability to coordinate, lead and direct such projects.
Self-motivated, superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.
Strong analytical ability, creative, and agile.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Demonstrated ability teaching within a formal classroom setting or presenting in another learning environment.
Demonstrated ability with current legal information technologies, publishing formats, databases, and legal research sources and techniques.
Demonstrated ability providing research and reference support in complex areas of legal research.
