, a 501(C)(3) is hiring a Head Teacher for the Resiliency Center in New Haven.
The Head Teacher, as part of ?r kids team will represent the Resiliency Center with the primary focus on creating a safe, trauma informed, healthy learning environment for children, 6 weeks to three-year-old children and their birth parents and caregivers, who have interfaced with the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
The Head Teacher is responsible for the curriculum, care, supervision, day to day operations, staffing and safety of the classroom.
Encouraging self esteem and independce, the Head Teacher will coordinate the assessment for the children?s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs.
Health, safety and nutritional education will be integrated into the overall curriculum planning.
Responsible for the oversight of keeping the classroom and playground clean, safe, and orderly.
Must have previous experience with the needs of culturally and economically diverse children and families.
Knowledge of the Impact of abuse and neglect on early childhood development is critical.
Learn, implement and ensure the classroom is in compliance with State of CT licensing codes, funding requirements, federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Duties In collaboration with the Resiliency Center Coordinator, implement a curriculum to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child, incorporating their parents?/caregivers learning within the classroom.
Follows proper health safety, emergency, and infectious control policies and procedures, and meets all necessary compliance with all child care licensing standards.
Oversees the set-up of the classroom environment in a clinically appropriate, clean and safe way that promotes learning while meeting department standards and day care licensing regulations.
Supervises, coaches and provides staff with competent and positive classroom management techniques.
Oversees and incorporates therapeutic recommendations for each infant/toddler.
Listens attentively to children; and works from the child?s physical level; assuring sit, bend, kneel within the child's eye level, showing sensitivity to the needs and feelings of any particular child.
Provide ongoing evaluation, and as needed, to assess the developmental levels of the children.
Participates in parent/child conferencing and consultations with child psychologist, birth to three, DCF and other providers.
Incorporates strength-based approaches with parents.
Oversee ongoing evaluation of children through daily observations, collecting weekly work samples and written assessments.
Facilitate Family Team meetings on a monthly basis or as needed, and develop goals for each child with the family.
Supervise assistant teachers, caregivers and volunteers in the class.
Maintain and ensure a positive, hopeful and cooperative environment amongst staff, caregivers, volunteers and consultants.
Provide feedback and input during supervision and the evaluation process.
Requirements Bachelor's Degree in ECE or related field with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education Minimum of two to three years of classroom experience specific to children zero through 3 years of age Must have successfully completed CT child care first-aid, infant/child CPR, and medication administration certification.
Have all credentials in place to apply for the Connecticut Head Teacher License from the Department of Public Health Complete Annual State of Connecticut Early Childhood continuing Education hours Must be 21 Yrs of age Must pass DCF and State Criminal Background check Covid vaccination compliant Must pass Health screening.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification Medication Administration Certification PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ADA Physical Demands/ADAA typical workday includes sitting, standing, keyboarding, lifting / carrying up to 50 lbs.
OCCUPATIONAL RISKS The Employee in this position has possible exposure to clients with potentially communicable diseases.
HIPPA The employee in this position has access to client specific information and client charts and must complete full HIPPA training.
OSHA This is a Category 1 job classification per OHSA standards.
The employee in this position may have exposure to blood borne pathogens.
